On 25 August 2015, as part of the International Aviation and Space Salon MAKS, State Transport Leasing Company (GTLK) and Sukhoi Civil Aircraft (a member of PJSC UAC) signed a firm contract for delivery of 32 Sukhoi Superjet 100 aircraft for their further handover to Russian regional airlines on operating lease terms.
Signing of such contract was announced by Russia’s President Vladimir Putin at MAKS 2015 Opening Ceremony.
On the part of GTLK the document was signed by Sergey Khramagin, its General Director; on behalf of SCAC it was signed by Ilya Tarasenko, its President.
As announced by Sergey Khramagin during the signing ceremony, “GTLK is well experienced in working with regional airlines and in structuring lease transactions pertaining to regional aircraft delivery. Our cooperation with SCAC will enable us to upgrade the fleet of regional air carriers, will contribute to the development of Russian aviation industry and will give a jump start to the process of import substitution in regional aviation segment”.
In his turn, Ilya Tarasenko noted as follows, “As of now the contract with GTLK constitutes the biggest order for Sukhoi Superjet 100 aircraft. Cooperation with GTLK opens up new opportunities for the project with respect to joint promotion of Sukhoi Superjet 100 in the market. I strongly believe that our cooperation will be efficient and that potential customers operating medium-haul flights will gain maximum advantages on attractive terms along with the newest jetliner SSJ100”.
Pursuant to the contract, the aircraft ordered will be delivered by SCAC to the leasing company from 2015 till late 2017. The contract also envisages an option for 28 additional SSJ100 aircraft.
At the signing ceremony the parties expressed their confidence that the contract between GTLK and SCAC would contribute to spur the demand for Sukhoi Superjet 100 owing to maximally attractive terms for potential leaseholders.
The project opens the door to replacement of the outdated foreign fleet with Sukhoi Superjet 100 aircraft of home manufacture. The project will be financed by way of a RUB 30 billion contribution to GTLK charter capital; however the leasing company will additionally be raising up to 30 billion non-budgetary funding throughout the whole delivery period.
The first aircraft under the contract between GTLK and SCA will be delivered to Russian air carrier Yamal. The respective agreement between GTLK and this airline was also signed at MAKS 2015.
